Bookspine（以下「本アプリ」）は、登録した本の書名・著者・ページ数・読んだ進み具合・読み終えた日などの記録を、 利用者の端末内（アプリ専用の領域）にのみ保存します。本アプリはこれらの情報を開発者のサーバーへ送信せず、第三者へ提供しません。 アカウントの作成は不要で、広告も表示しません。
Pro で「iCloud で同期」をオンにした場合に限り、これらの記録と今年の読書目標は利用者自身の iCloud（Apple）を通じて、同じ Apple アカウントの端末間で同期されます。開発者はその内容を見ることができません。表紙の画像は同期せず、各端末で取り直します。
本を探すときと表紙を取り込むときに限り、公開されている書誌データベース Open Library（Internet Archive）へ、利用者が入力した検索語または ISBN を送信します。 日本の本のバーコード（978-4 で始まる ISBN）を読み取ったときは、日本の出版社の書誌データベース openBD へ、その ISBN を送信します。 このとき送られるのは検索語（または ISBN）だけで、利用者の本棚の中身・氏名・端末の識別子は送信しません。 検索を使わずに、書名を自分で入力して本を登録することもできます（通信は発生しません）。
設定で「Apple Books からも表紙を探す」をオンにした場合に限り、表紙が見つからない本の書名と著者名を Apple の iTunes Search API（Apple Books の検索）へ送信し、 見つかった表紙の画像を取り込みます。この設定は既定でオフで、いつでもオフに戻せます（オフにすると、Apple Books から取り込んだ表紙は端末から削除されます）。
Goodreads の書き出しファイル（CSV）を取り込む機能（Pro）は、ファイルを端末内で読み取るだけで、ファイルの内容を開発者や第三者へ送信しません。 取り込んだ本の表紙を取るときに限り、上記と同じく ISBN を Open Library へ（Apple Books の設定がオンなら書名と著者名を Apple へ）送信します。
本の裏表紙の ISBN バーコードを読み取るときにのみカメラを使います。読み取りは端末内で完結し、 撮影した画像は保存も送信もしません。
本アプリの改善のため、以下の匿名の記録を開発者のサーバーへ送信します。
以下は送信しません。
この記録は広告の配信や広告効果の測定には使用せず、第三者のデータブローカーへ提供することもありません。 他社のトラッキング用データと結び付けることもありません。第三者の解析 SDK は組み込んでいません。
送信は、アプリの設定（歯車）＞「プライバシー」＞「匿名の利用状況を送る」からいつでも停止できます。 停止すると、まだ送信していない分も端末から削除されます。

Bookspine stores the books you add — title, author, page count, reading progress and the date you finished — only on your device, in the app's own container. This information is never sent to the developer's server and is never shared with third parties. No account is required and no ads are shown.
Only if you turn on iCloud sync (Pro), these records and your yearly reading goal sync between your own devices signed in to the same Apple Account through your iCloud (Apple). The developer cannot see them. Cover images are not synced; each device fetches them again.
When you search for a book or fetch a cover, and only then, the app sends your search term (or the ISBN) to the public bibliographic database Open Library (Internet Archive). When you scan the barcode of a Japanese book (an ISBN starting with 978-4), the ISBN is sent to openBD, the bibliographic database of Japanese publishers. Only that search term is sent — never the contents of your shelf, your name, or any device identifier. You can also add a book by typing its title yourself, which sends nothing at all.
Only if you turn on “Also find covers on Apple Books” in Settings, the title and author of books without a cover are sent to Apple's iTunes Search API (Apple Books search), and the cover image found there is downloaded. This setting is off by default and can be turned off at any time (turning it off deletes the covers that came from Apple Books from your device).
Importing a Goodreads export file (CSV, Pro) reads the file on your device only; its contents are never sent to the developer or any third party. To fetch covers for imported books, the ISBN is sent to Open Library as above (and, if the Apple Books setting is on, the title and author are sent to Apple).
The camera is used only to read the ISBN barcode on the back of a book. Recognition happens on the device; no image is stored or transmitted.
To improve the app, the following anonymous records are sent to the developer's server: the kind of action taken (such as the app being opened), which screen showed the Pro offer and what triggered it, that a widget was displayed and its size, the number of books added (never their titles), app and OS version, language setting, a random identifier generated on the device (removed when you delete the app), and the country of the connection (the IP address is not stored).
Never sent: the titles or authors of your books, your name, email, phone number or address, the advertising identifier (IDFA) or device identifier (IDFV), your location, your IP address, or any camera image.
These records are not used for advertising or ad measurement, are not sold to data brokers, and are not linked to any third-party tracking data. No third-party analytics SDK is embedded.
You can stop this at any time in the app: Settings (gear) → Privacy → “Share anonymous usage”. Turning it off also deletes anything not yet sent.
